WELCOME!

Thank you for visiting my website. If you are thinking about beginning therapy, I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to address the issues that call for your attention with a person who is new to you. Yet, just as physical pain asks us to tend to the body, emotional pain asks us to tend to the psyche. It’s hard to believe, but whatever form emotional pain takes also poses an invitation to expand your understanding of yourself.

The therapy relationship is important, even to the most introverted of us, because we are relational beings. Isolated, we are doomed to repeat patterns of behavior and thought—not because we want to, but because we’ve created literal neurobiological patterns into which thoughts so easily slide. That makes it quite difficult to discover fresh perspectives and resources on one’s own. If we are lucky enough to have friends and family who listen, they may feel ‘in over their heads’ or offer opinions that contain understandable bias.

The function of a therapist is different from family and friends. We offer up the integration of our training and experience to assist you in the process of healing emotional wounds. The collaborative therapy partnership provides safe space in which a wide range of troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviors may loosen their hold and transform. Since beginning practice in 1995, I’ve trained in many approaches and found my therapeutic ‘home’ in attachment-rich neurobiological work with a focus on trauma, while encompassing all forms of emotional duress. I am a Level II AEDP Practitioner.

Of course I continue to explore developments in psychotherapy and emerging information about the brain: expanding understanding is a lifelong process. Individuals, not ‘problems’, come in my door, and I rejoice in our shared humanity. If you would like to meet for a first session to discuss your situation, please contact me. I look forward to speaking with you.
COVID-19 UPDATE: I offer HIPAA compliant Telehealth sessions.
